free area in the wilderness of the Eastern Cape. The Shamwari
Reserve is a convenient distance from Cape Town and being in a
malaria free zone provides a fantastic alternative to the lodges
in and around Kruger National park.
Riverdene Lodge is now the latest addition at award winning Shamwari
Game Reserve, and caters for a total of 18 guests.

Accommodation
The luxurious
suites are fully air-conditioned, with television and telephone,
and feature a small lounge area. Each en-suite sandstone bathroom
has a 'his' and 'hers' vanity basin, separate shower, bath and
private toilet.
Activities
Activities from
the lodge include morning and evening game drives or walking safaris,
accompanied by your personal ranger. Shamwari Game Reserve prides
itself on the knowledge and professionalism of their rangers.
Riverdene Lodge is a fully restored settler lodge with ethnic
African interiors, personal ranger service, scenic beauty, swimming
pool, spacious public areas, outdoor dining on patio. (weather
permitting).
Wildlife
Home to some 60 mammals,
300 bird species, 100 plant types and numerous reptile and insect
species, at Mabula, all natures' wonders are revered - from the
'Big Five' (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) to the
'small five' (ant lion, leopard tortoise, buffalo weaver, elephant
shrew and rhino beetle). This is the Heartland of the Safari experience.
Access
Shamwari Game Reserve is located about
one hour's drive from the city of Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
Province, South Africa. There are regular jet flights to the city
many times a day from Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban.
